NHS111 Call Centre roles
Our call centres teams in Welwyn Garden City, Bedford and Peterborough consist of a variety of roles:
When a patient calls NHS111, a trained Call Handler, asks them a range of questions to assess the patient’s needs. Depending on the result of this assessment, the patient may be put through to a Clinical Advisor, who is a registered nurse or paramedic, or other healthcare professional including Doctors, Pharmacists and Dental Nurses. The call centre team is supported by a Navigator, taking calls from patients and healthcare professionals and referring them to the most appropriate member of the team. Each call centre is supervised at all times by an experienced Shift Manager who takes responsibility for the operation of the shift.
