We’re always looking for opportunities to collaborate and improve patient care, and a key part of that is building strong relationships with our partners across the healthcare system. Last week, we had the pleasure of inviting members of the Bedford, Luton and Milton Keynes Integrated Care Board to our Bedford Contact Centre to learn more about the workstreams within the primary care team to explore opportunities for HUC to engage and collaborate.
Following a successful virtual introduction, it was noted that the team had not visited our Bedford Contact Centre since its opening in October 2023, and the consensus was it’s important to showcase our new facilities and the vital work our Health Advisors, Clinical Advisors, and Operational Duty Managers do on a daily basis. We invited Steve Gutteridge, UEC Commissioning manager, Jay Willet, Primary Care Transformation Manager – Primary Care Access and Jade Vandyke, Primary Care Manager (Integrated Same Day Access) to visit our new Bedford premises in operation. It was a great opportunity to showcase our work and explore potential collaboration areas.

Deb Payne, Head of NHS 111, and Carol Norris, the Contact Centre Manager at Bedford welcomed the team and guided them through the premises. The BLMK ICB members were able to spend some quality time with some of the Health Advisors and Clinical Advisors to gain first-hand knowledge of what we do.
Deb Payne said, “We really appreciate the time the team took out of their busy schedules to attend, and we’re happy to have shown them around our contact centre on a bustling Monday afternoon. We look forward to continuing our discussions, and further building the team’s awareness of HUC and NHS 111 systems.”
