On 10th April, the Hatfield Leisure Centre transformed into a vibrant hub of activity for the Hatfield Family Health Day. The health day saw local residents and families coming together for free sessions dedicated to wellbeing, health education and promoting community spirit through market stalls and activities.
HUC was proud to be part of the event, with Business Relationship Partners, Sophia Woollams and Suzanne Cole, on hand at our dedicated HUC table to meet the public.
Sophia and Suzanne spent the day engaging in meaningful conversations with local residents, answering any questions regarding HUC and the NHS 111 service. Building this direct link with our patients helps ensure that when people need care, they understand exactly how and when to use the resources available to them.
The turnout was fantastic, with approximately 600 people in attendance throughout the day. There were opportunities to attend health talks, visit market stalls or just have fun with an abundance of activities to try. There was something for everyone to get involved in!
The success of the day didn’t go unnoticed. The event received excellent media coverage in the local paper, highlighting the importance of linking patients with organisations that support healthy, active lifestyles at any age.
“I was very pleased to see the enthusiasm there was at the Hatfield Family Health Day. It gave an opportunity for local community groups to come together, share experience and promote activities locally. One of my personal interests is the local junior parkrun at Birchwood in Hatfield. On the Sunday following the Health Day we welcomed eight new youngsters and we hope they found it a fun and friendly event.”
— Mick Wise, Mayor of Hatfield Town Council
Events like the Hatfield Family Health Day are a vital part of what we do at HUC: stepping out of the clinical environment and into the community to support, educate, and connect. A big thank you to Sophia and Suzanne for representing us so brilliantly!
