HUC goes the extra mile to support Armed Forces community

HUC seized the occasion and pledged to go the extra mile to support service men and women past and present on Armed Forces Day on Saturday (24th June).

HUC, which already employs a number of ex-service personnel, as well as spouses of service personnel past and present, became one of an ever-increasing number of organisations to sign up to the Armed Forces Covenant (AFC).

Signatories to the AFC make a commitment to ensure that special consideration is given to those who serve in the Armed Forces, whether Regular or Reserve, as well as veterans, and their families.

“In defence of the realm, our Armed Forces routinely forego some of the freedoms many of us take for granted, face danger and sometimes suffer serious injury or even death,” reflected HUC’s Chief Operating Officer Janice Greenhill.

“This being the case, HUC staunchly believes that members of the Royal Navy, the Army and the Royal Air Force, together with their families, are deserving of our respect and support. We are delighted to sign up to the AFC and excited about the opportunities it presents for us to work even more closely with the Armed Forces Community.

“Everyone at HUC is immensely proud of those colleagues who have served their country and it was fantastic to see their efforts celebrated with the Armed Forces Day events which took place across the UK over the weekend,” added Janice.

 

Recruitment Coordinator Sally Booth and IT Desktop Support Engineer Ashliegh Young represented HUC at the Armed Forces Day event in Peterborough over the weekend.

“I was thrilled to be there representing HUC. It was a fantastic to have an opportunity to recognise our service men and women and the parade made me quite emotional,” said Sally.

“What is more, there was huge interest in our NHS 111 Call Handler and Clinical Advisor vacancies from both the forces community and the general public.”
