At HUC, we’re continually looking for partnerships that align with our mission of providing high-quality patient care. Healthwatch, a respected organisation that places patients at the heart of healthcare provision, is one such valuable collaborator.
Recently, our Commercial team arranged an insightful visit from the Young Healthwatch team of Central Bedfordshire. This initiative went beyond our usual interactions with local Healthwatch teams, offering a unique learning and sharing opportunity.
The young team visited our call centre to gain a deeper understanding of HUC and the services we provide to the Luton and Bedfordshire area. Each member had the chance to shadow both NHS 111 health advisors and clinical advisors, asking questions about their daily roles and learning about our service operations.
The team found the experience particularly useful and Anna, a member of the team said,
“Khyem, Grace, and I really enjoyed listening to various calls and seeing how the 111 system works in practice. It was so interesting to meet the health information and clinical teams and learn how they support people with their health. This unique experience was valuable in extending our knowledge of this system and healthcare, and the team was engaging, passionate, and welcoming. Thank you to Lara Galliford for inviting us and introducing us to urgent care with her enthusiasm and knowledge.”
Lara, our Relationship Business Partner who facilitated the visit said “We’re thankful to the team for taking the time to visit us and for their openness to understanding our operations. We know they’ll help share this knowledge with others from both patient and partner perspectives. We’re excited about future collaborations with the team.”
This visit shows our commitment and belief in the importance of patient-centred healthcare design and delivery. By engaging with organisations like Healthwatch, we continue to refine our services and ensure they meet the evolving needs of our community.
