Inspiring healthy smiles through community engagement

HUC was delighted to support this year’s community wellbeing event at White Lion Square, Hatfield, hosted by Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council. Now in its fifth year, the event continues to bring together local organisations, charities, community groups and support services to promote health and wellbeing across the community.

This marked HUC’s second year supporting the event, with our Dental Nurses, Bianca and Ionela. Throughout the day, they provided oral health promotion, offered practical advice, and answered questions about accessing urgent dental care through the NHS 111 dental pathway.

The activities were developed by Dental Nurses Bianca and Ionela, with support from Sharna and Sophia, who identified the opportunity to attend the family community fair. Their creativity and enthusiasm helped create an engaging experience that encouraged positive conversations about oral health in a relaxed and enjoyable environment.

The event attracted a fantastic turnout, with many visitors stopping by the HUC stall to learn more about NHS 111, the range of services HUC provides, and career opportunities within the organisation.

Events like these highlight the value of working closely with our communities, promoting prevention, and encouraging healthy habits from a young age. By engaging children and families in a fun and accessible way, HUC is helping to improve oral health awareness and support better health outcomes for the future.
