Suzanne Elderton-Cole, our Relationship Business Partner, represented HUC and attended East Bedford Primary Care Network’s Wellbeing Support Coffee Morning on 3 September, joining local health, wellbeing and community organisations to connect with residents and raise awareness of NHS 111.
Held at Christ the King Church Hall in Bedford, the event provided an opportunity for people to learn more about local support services and speak directly with organisations working across the community.
Throughout the morning, the team shared information about NHS 111 and spoke with residents about their experiences of accessing urgent and mental health support. Feedback on NHS 111 was positive overall, with attendees describing the service as helpful and accessible.
The event also provided valuable insight into local health and wellbeing needs, highlighting opportunities to improve awareness of available mental health support and strengthen communication about local services.
As well as engaging with residents, the team met representatives from a range of community organisations, including Age UK Bedfordshire, Citizens Advice, Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service and FLAG Bedford. These conversations identified opportunities for future partnership working and community outreach.
Community events such as these play an important role in helping HUC better understand residents’ experiences, build local relationships and ensure people know where to turn when they need support.
