Hayley Grieve, a Medicines Management Administrator, was one of our HUC Heroes in 2022: a runner-up in two categories – Unsung Hero and Rising Star.
Hayley joined HUC in July 2021 as a Medicines Management Administrator and supports Hertfordshire and Luton & Bedfordshire, sometimes covering West Essex. Her responsibilities include purchasing medication and consumables, liaising with suppliers, maintaining stock and equipment, auditing bases, and working with other teams.
“HUC is an amazing place to work, where people build strong professional bonds, and the organisation is always developing and evolving,” she opines. “And I have had some really memorable and proud moments here.”
“Firstly receiving heartwarming nominations, and then coming runner-up in not one but two categories of the HUC Heroes Staff Awards was very special for me,” says Hayley. “It was an immensely proud moment, as I had not been in the organisation for a full year back then. It made me feel like a valued member of the team and encouraged me to strive further.”
“No day is the same and every day is incredibly busy. I make sure all bases have everything they need to run the services. I am the point of contact for base co-ordinators and drivers.”
“I make purchases and pick orders, after going through stock levels at our Hertfordshire office, in the cars, ensuring all the car drug bags are complete,” she elaborates, adding, “Sometimes I have to visit bases to drop off orders or for audit purposes.”
“I like that the job is fast-paced and there is always work that needs to be done. I am given autonomy and my recommendations or concerns are listened to. I also enjoy working with my team,” she says.
And she gets to work closely with a lot of other colleagues at HUC also supporting drivers and base coordinators. On top of that, she regularly works with the finance, operations, clinical and non-clinical teams.
“I would encourage colleagues to send their nomination as it boosts staff morale and confidence. I felt proud when I won, and I feel everyone should have an opportunity to feel the same. It was nice having my hard work noticed and awarded.”
Well done, Hayley and thank you for sharing these encouraging words.
