Today, we are excited to celebrate a colleague who is fundraising for an important cause close to his heart. Calum Forster, a Coach in Welwyn Garden City, will be joining the race to help beat childhood cancer by taking part in the RBC Race for the Kids for Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) Children’s Charity.
Cancer is the leading cause of death among children aged one to 14 in the UK. However, a child doesn’t have to die from cancer for it to claim their life. Living with cancer varies for each child. It can involve countless gruelling treatments, watching your siblings through the windows of an isolation room, and not knowing when you’ll sleep in your own bed again. It might mean missing out on parties, playdates, and trips to the park. It can also mean missing the moments that make up a childhood.

For Calum, this is more than just a charity run. It’s a deep-seated family commitment and a day of celebration. “The race for GOSH is something truly important to me and my family. This will be the fourth year we’ve taken part. Every year, the whole family, about 35 of us, travel to London and cross that finish line together. It’s a day of celebration for GOSH, where thousands of people gather in Hyde Park, coming together to raise money for a brilliant cause.”
The support Calum has received from his colleagues illustrates the strong, supportive culture we strive for every day. “Everyone has been so kind and really supportive. I see colleagues day-to-day who have been interested in hearing the story of what GOSH means to my family, and I’ve even received emails of support from people in other contact centres who I haven’t even met yet! That kind of support not only strengthens our work relationships but also makes the entire work environment a supportive place. Whether it’s through donations, checking in, or just simple words of encouragement, having this support has definitely made the entire experience more rewarding!”
