Sexual and Reproductive Health Essentials for Primary Care Course
At HUC continuous learning is not just encouraged; it’s essential for our colleagues to deliver on our mission of high-quality care. Recently, Eslam, a valued Advanced Nurse Practitioner in our Peterborough contact centre, completed a comprehensive course on family planning funded by HUC. The course covered crucial aspects such as emergency contraception, routine contraception, and sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
Our clinicians gain valuable knowledge from this course, and it really makes a difference for our patients. With this information, they can help patients understand STIs and the risks involved which allows them to make smart choices about their sexual health, looking after their wellbeing and preventing infections from spreading.
Eslam shares more about the course and his learning
“One of the key highlights was delving into the details of emergency contraception—a part of my role as a prescriber that requires up-to-date knowledge. The course provided insights into the latest developments in emergency contraception, equipping me with the skills and knowledge to navigate these situations with confidence.”
“Similarly, the discussions on routine contraception were equally informative. Addressing common queries and concerns, the course not only improved my understanding but also allows me to better assist patients seeking routine contraceptive options. It’s an aspect of my role I come across frequently, and being well-versed in the latest information ensures I can provide the best possible advice.”
“The session on sexually transmitted infections shed light on those at risk and the preventive measures that can be taken. This knowledge is essential, not just for my role but for the overall well-being of the community we serve.”
“This investment in education by HUC is a testament to the organisation’s commitment to safe and informed care. The funding not only supports professional growth but reinforces the importance of staying current in a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape. As a practitioner, this is very helpful as it allows me to deliver a higher standard of care and engage with patients more effectively.”
“In healthcare, learning is a continuous journey, and I am grateful HUC actively encourages and supports me in my role.”
