Meet our People: Jessica Bell

Jess Bell joined HUC in 2018, having moved from Berkshire on a posting order for her husband. From call handler to administrator, Jess’s career progression is a story of true success.

“Both of my daughters were born into the military. This affected them in ways most people would struggle to comprehend. A bag always packed, moving home, losing friends and being distanced from family and support networks can often be seen as ‘dysfunctional’. Having only one parent present for months at a time is certainly not uncommon for children born into serving families, and missed milestones like birthdays and Christmases can cause triggers with my children. But my manager’s understanding and support is an asset both in my life and to the company.”

As a successful member of the team, Jess has truly flourished under an employer who can cater to very specific needs.

“HUC supported me when my Husband retired from his service after 24 years. They allowed me to work flexible shift patterns so he could attend resettlement courses and I could care for our young children. I have been able attend events with them and be a present and supportive parent. Their flexibility allowed me to help my children manage their emotions and guide them while they faced new challenges.”
