Meet Shanice - A happy face at HUC
This week we’re featuring a familiar face at our Bedford contact centre, Shanice McGrory! As a Clinical Advisor, Floorwalker, and Auditor, Shanice is known for her constantly upbeat attitude and warm smile. Her colleagues describe her as someone who brightens the office, so we sat down to learn more about what motivates this ray of sunshine.
Shanice joined HUC in January 2022, coming from an A&E background, with qualifications in adult, emergency and trauma nursing. Though she enjoyed that fast-paced environment, she loves the variety that comes with her current roles. “I like that there are so many different aspects to it! Speaking to patients, conducting triage, and doing your best to help them. Providing support to colleagues and making sure they’re okay after tough calls – it’s so rewarding,” she shared.
Mimi and Squidge
When asked about her perpetually cheery mood, Shanice said, “I try my best to stay positive and make others laugh. I’m a bit of a bookworm, so after work you’ll find me curled up with a good book and my two cats, Mimi and Squidge.”
Outside of work, Shanice treasures time spent with friends, whether it’s exploring local hiking trails or checking out new places together. “I love summer hikes in the Peak District!” she says.
Shanice is a strong believer in finding balance through quality downtime. “Taking time to decompress and care for yourself is hugely important. Do activities you enjoy, talk openly about your feelings, and ask for help when you need it,” she advised.
With her warm and friendly demeanour it’s clear why Shanice is so beloved at HUC. She shows us the power of positivity and the value in caring for ourselves and each other. Thank you Shanice, for spreading positive vibes through the office every day!
