Five members from our Cambridgeshire and Peterborough team — Kaye Bostock, Franklyn Baxter, Gemma Orriss, Ahmad Jebeli, and Sarah Field — recently swapped their usual routines for hiking boots, tents, and the challenge of climbing the UK’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis.
Now proudly known as “The New Adventurers,” the group travelled to Scotland for a weekend of camping and climbing, spending two nights under canvas as they prepared to take on the mighty mountain.
For some of the team, both camping and mountain climbing were completely new experiences, while others had tackled similar adventures before. Thankfully, the group had expert guidance from Sarah Field, whose extensive camping and climbing experience helped keep spirits high and the team motivated throughout the trip.
Despite extremely challenging weather conditions, everyone pushed themselves as far as they could. The climb tested the group physically and mentally, with heavy rain making pathways and rocky terrain slippery and difficult underfoot. Step by step, the team climbed higher and higher, supporting one another along the way.
Sarah even managed to reach the summit in treacherous conditions, battling knee-deep snow as the weather worsened during the ascent. It was an incredible achievement and a testament to her determination and resilience.
The challenge was about more than just conquering a mountain. The team also set out to raise money for two important charities: Little Miracles, which is associated with the call centre, and Peterborough Cathedral. So far, the group has surpassed its £300 fundraising target.
The weekend proved to be an unforgettable experience filled with teamwork, perseverance, and plenty of adventure. And it seems this is only the beginning for “The New Adventurers,” who are already planning their next challenge later in the year, with hopes that even more colleagues will join them next time.
