Our Relationship Business Partner, Sophia Woollams, had the privilege of representing HUC at the Rainbow Services Annual General Meeting in Harlow last week.
Rainbow Services aims to alleviate the effects of disadvantage, deprivation, and social exclusion through innovative projects that support, empower, and develop individuals and organisations within the local community. System Partners and service users across West Essex were invited to reflect on the positive impacts of these initiatives.
Singing for Lung Health
Each year, one service or project is highlighted, and this year, the focus was on “Our Health Matters.” This initiative directly addresses health inequalities through various projects and collaborations with numerous organisations, including Diabetes Outreach, PACT for Autism, and Active Essex. One notable project, funded by Active Essex, was created to support lung health. Thus, the weekly Singing for Lung Health Group was established, featuring an instructor recommended by Asthma UK.
“A singing lesson was provided to the attendees, demonstrating the benefits of singing to physical and mental health,” says Sophia, one of our Relationship Business Partners. “I was delighted to join all the people in the room raising the roof with a rendition of My Girl.”
“It was the highlight of the event, an inspiring experience and a fantastic opportunity to connect with other system partners who share the same vision for well-being and community health.” she shared.
