NHS 111 can help with any medication queries including advice around side effects of any new medication they have been prescribed or interference with any existing medication they might already take. At weekends, from Friday 6pm until Sunday evenings, a trained pharmacist is on hand with a wealth of understanding and knowledge of over the counter medication if a patient finds their local pharmacy is closed. In addition, for patients who have run out of their repeat prescriptions, advice and support as well as emergency courses of medication can be arranged by a covering pharmacist or GP while their GP is closed.
We want you to stay well. We would advise you always to have sufficient quantities of your prescribed medication over any holiday period, to be proactive in your own medicine’s management and to only contact NHS 111 in the event of an urgent medical or pharmaceutical need.
