Meet Filip Carlos, HUC’s Finance Assistant and avid bodybuilder. Filip tells us more about the world of bodybuilding, revealing the profound benefits of physical activity and sharing his insights on why it holds such importance.
What physical activity do you do and how often?
“I am a bodybuilder, and compete in the Men’s Physique Division. I am required to get into peak physical condition, which means following a very strict diet and training plan for 5 to 6 days of the week. My training is focused on hypertrophy, which is basically increasing the size of your muscles.”

How does physical activity help you?
I look forward to training because it helps me switch off, feel more active and productive throughout the day. My training involves cardio and weight lifting, which help reduce my health risks through so many different ways, the list would be endless!
Is there a competition you are working towards?
I’m currently training for a competition that takes place in November this year.
Why do you think it is important for people to invest in their physical health?
For me, working on my physical health has improved my mental health, and we all know mental health is just as important as physical health, so it is almost a win – win situation. I also feel much more confident which is an added bonus.
Aside from this, exercise is one of those things you will never regret doing, because it brings so many benefits and completing some form of regular exercise is likely to help you live a healthier life.
