Rob Chapman is honoured with the King's Coronation Medal
This week, join us in celebrating the incredible journey of Rob Chapman, a valued NHS 111 Clinical Advisor at our Welwyn Garden City contact centre. Rob was recently awarded the prestigious King’s Coronation Medal after dedicating 25 years of exceptional service as a paramedic.
Rob’s healthcare career began in 1991 at Lister Hospital, where he worked as a Healthcare Assistant in the renal unit. He later transitioned to patient transport at the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Ambulance Service. Progressing further, Rob became an Emergency Medical Technician, earning his paramedic Staff of Life Badge in 2001. For many years, he worked tirelessly on double-man ambulances, providing vital care to those in need.
Despite facing the challenges of a heart condition called Brugada, Rob’s determination continued. He began working in Primary Care as an Emergency Practitioner, offering diagnoses, treatments, and reassessments in a GP surgery. After a short break, Rob joined HUC as a Clinical Advisor in April 2022, bringing his wealth of experience and expertise to our team.
Rob’s outstanding contributions as a paramedic have been rightfully recognised through the King’s Coronation Medal. The medal is a gift from the nation to commemorate the coronation and is presented to all serving frontline members that have completed five years of service. Around 400,000 members of the police, fire, emergency services, prison services and armed forces received the medal.
Rob shares his surprise in receiving the medal
“I certainly wasn’t expecting the medal, as I am no longer on the frontline service. But I do feel very lucky to be the recipient of not only this medal but also the Queen’s Gold Diamond Medal, Platinum Jubilee Medal, Queens Long Service and 25-year NHS Long Service Award!”
Congratulations Rob, on this well-deserved recognition! Your dedication and commitment to the ambulance service and patient care has been nothing short of amazing. We are immensely proud to have you as part of our team!
